Jamie Foxx is being hailed as a real-life hero after he pulled a crash victim from a burning car after an accident near his home, but he says he “just had to do something”.
Brett Kyle, 32, was driving in southern California near Jamie Foxx’s home when he lost control of his car.
Brett’s car came off the highway, rolled multiple times, and caught fire with Brett trapped inside.
Jamie Foxx said he heard the crash from his home and dialled 911 before running to the scene and dragging Brett from the vehicle moments before it exploded.
“I don’t look at it as something heroic; I just look at it like I had to do something and it all just worked out,” said the star.
“I told him as we were talking, as I’m getting him out, you’ve got angels around you,” he added.
Brad Kyle, Brett’s dad, told the BBC, “We all hope that we can do something when the time is there, but the question is: Do we act, or do we fear our own lives? And [Foxx] did not.”
Foxx later posted on his Instagram this photo of himself sharing an embrace with Brad, saying, “No heroes, just happy fathers.”
Brett is said to be recovering well after suffering broken bones and a punctured lung in the accident. He’s certainly got an awesome story to tell his grandkids!
